LOTHIAN BUSES RECREATED IN LEGO®

Miniature recreations of Lothian buses are set to star in a unique exhibition in Edinburgh this August.

‘Brick City – The Backstage Tour’ will see one of the UK’s leading LEGO® builders, Warren Elsmore, open up his Edinburgh studio to the public.

A new Lothian bus will be added to the display each week, beginning with the Citybus that currently can be seen on the streets of Edinburgh.

The venue is Riddles Court, a recently completed £6million refurbishment of a unique old merchant house/tenement on the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

The exhibition runs from 4 to 25 August and is being promoted by Lothian.

Warren said: “The Backstage Tour will give people the chance to see how a firm of master builders work and some of our favourite models, especially the ones that are too fragile to lend out.

“Lothian are so much part of Edinburgh that it seemed obvious to include them in our displays and I’m excited to see how people react to seeing them for the first time.”

Gaynor Marshall, Communications Director of Lothian added: “Lothian is part of the fabric of the city and we’re absolutely delighted that some of our vehicles are to be represented in this exhibition. Warren’s attention to detail is incredible and these models are sure to be a huge hit with our customers, as well as bus and LEGO® enthusiasts of all ages.”

The event is sponsored by Scottish Historic Buildings Trust. The charity secures the future of under-used historic buildings across Scotland by expertly restoring them for the nation and finding new uses that can regenerate local communities and the historic environment.
