There’s a new Syrian bakery in the Southside of Edinburgh. The Sweety House has opened this week after taking Haddington by storm with their Syrian bakes at The Loft Cafe & Bakery.

Owned by Talal Tahan and Nour Taleb, this cafe and takeaway is open 7 days from 9am – 9pm at 19 Clerk Street and serves up incredible sweet treats such as chocolate baklava, mammoul and many more. As of October 2018, they are now doing a range of  savoury foods such as fatayir, mamakiesh and Syrian pizza.

They have recently extended their premises and have several tables to  to sit in and enjoy your choices with a coffee, but all goods are available to takeaway too.

Having sampled most of their goods over the last year, it comes highly recommended by us.

Talal has lived in Edinburgh for the last 18 years and Nour and his family fled from Syria in 2012 and moved to East Lothian in May 2016.

Nour had previously run a bakery in Aleppo.

We highly recommend a visit to this new bakery in Clerk Street. You can find the Sweety House on Facebook.
