If you’ve been down to the Water of Leith recently, you may have noticed some stones carefully balanced on top of each other.

With a bit of help from asking our Facebook page fans, the original artist got in touch to claim which ones he had created, but said the most recent ones at Dean Village were not his work.

Ken Shapely was responsible for the first ones that appeared on the Water of Leith in Stockbridge, including this one.

Our friend Rich Dyson, had photographed the stones at Dean Village one evening and returned a few days later to find Nick Hortin creating some more.

It seems that Nick had been inspired by a Youtube video and tried it himself.

We love both of their work and they make a lovely addition to this beautiful part of Edinburgh.

It takes incredible skill and balance to create them
