Free outdoor films in St Andrew Square

June is officially movie month in Edinburgh with the 69th Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) taking place 17-28 June 2015. This is Edinburgh in partnership with EIFF, is inviting locals of all ages to free outdoor cinema screenings in the Grassmarket and St Andrew Square.

St Andrew Square 12 – 14 June 2015

Friday 12 to Sunday 14 June sees outdoor screenings return to St Andrew Square Gardens ranging from Guardians of the Galaxy and Indiana Jones, to Life of Pi and Brave.

Grab a picnic, pray for dry weather and enjoy free screenings of some classic films.

There will be room for 1,000 people in St Andrew Square. You can also bring your own food and drink to the event, but alcohol is prohibited in St Andrew Square. Please also refrain from bringing glass (including bottles and jars), crockery or sharp knives. Your bag may be searched on entry and unsuitable items will be confiscated.

Alternatively, you can buy food and drink on the day from the range of outlets that will be available on site, including a fully licensed bar and a coffee shop.

Grassmarket 6 – 7 June 2015 – this weekend of films has now passed.

Kicking off Film in the City on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June will be lively, family-friendly ‘dance-along’ screenings of musical favourites such as Mary Poppins, West Side Story and Dirty Dancing, in the wonderful setting of Edinburgh’s Grassmarket (in front of Dance Base).

Additional information: Special extras from Grassmarket retailers, including workshops, face-painting and one-off performances, will bring a whole new dimension to favourite dance movie moments.

Families welcome, seating for up to 400 provided but no reserved seating available. Please note, some of the films later in the day may not be suitable for very young audiences, please check film certification for more information.
