PHOTOS – Edinburgh Trams launch day, 31st May 2014

Saturday 31st May was an extremely sunny day in Edinburgh and also the day the Edinburgh Trams launched to the paying public in Edinburgh.

Alastair Tibbitt of STV Edinburgh wrote an excellent article, including details of the inaugural tram ride at 5am.

Edinburgh Trams tweeted this photo of inside the first tram to leave the depot.

We had our breakfast before heading out in the sunshine and waiting on the tram at the Balgreen stop.

We were in and around town for a few hours and saw thousands of people getting on and off the trams on the first day of service.

Here’s a selection of photos we’ve been sent of by our readers of their first day tram experiences.
