New Edinburgh Community Cafes map launched
Edinburgh Community Cafes are excited to present the second edition guide to tasty food with a social conscience around the city.
Money raised in each of the cafes supports the local projects, training programmes, charities and community centres all doing good work in your neighbourhood. From providing employability and training programmes, raising funds and developing volunteering opportunities left, right and centre, there is a diverse range of opportunities to get involved in… not to mention all the tasty food on offer!
The network of cafes has expanded to over 40 in the last year so it was high time for a new map to let the people of Edinburgh know what all the cafes are all up to and how to find them. The group includes organisations like Autism Initiatives, Bethany Christian Trust, The Eric Liddell Centre, and Sikh Sanjog.
You can see a full list of Edinburgh’s Community Cafes.
The community cafes are supported by Edinburgh Community Food whose staff organise regular meetings, secure funding for projects and run low cost training such as REHIS Food Hygiene and REHIS Food and Health. Supporting the community cafes network is just one of the ways Edinburgh Community Food works towards its charitable aims which are to:
- Improve access to healthy food across the city
- Tackle health inequalities in low income areas
- Offer professional nutritional advice
- Carry out health promotion activities
- Empower people of all ages to make healthy choices and have the confidence to cook nutritious meals.
