BOOK LAUNCH – Beacons: Stories for our not so distant future

Beacons: Stories for our not so distant future is a new collection of original short stories which explore the theme of climate change, and which will be launched as part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival on Sat 26 October.

Featuring stories from Alasdair Gray, A L Kennedy, Janice Galloway and a whole host of other celebrated authors, the book aims to highlight issues facing the planet in the poignant, moving and poetic way which sometimes only stories can.

The brainchild of Mike Robinson, a member of the board of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, the collection will now be launched with a live event, featuring the book’s editor Gregory Norminton, playwright Julie Wilkson and others who will read and perform extracts from the stories. An opportunity to debate some of the issues will also feature at the event, which takes place at 2pm on Saturday 26th October in the Scottish Storytelling Centre on the Royal Mile.
