Princes Street and Princes Street Gardens were a riot of colour, noise and fun yesterday afternoon as the sun shone down on the Edinburgh Festival Carnival. Part of the Jazz & Blues Festival, the event drew huge crowds to enjoy the variety of entertainment on offer.
Bands, dancers and performers from across the world brought fun and laughter to a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon, and the carnival atmosphere was certainly high as people were encouraged to promenade between the Gardens and Princes Street to see the impressive variety of acts.
We still miss the Festival Cavalcade which used to take place on Princes Street every year, so it was fantastic to see the space once again packed with colour and enjoyment as the Edinburgh Festival Carnival well and truly got the festival season underway.
Here are our photos of the afternoon, which attempt to capture some of the colour and spectacle of what was a hugely successful and enjoyable event.
