City Walks Edinburgh, a new book to help you discover the city
City Walks Edinburgh is a new book that will help you discover the streets and buildings of Edinburgh. Written by Margot McMurdo, a qualified Blue Badge Scottish Tourist Guide who is highly experienced and locally-based in Edinburgh.
There are 15 walks covered in the book and range from the well known areas such as the High Street to Leith, Morningside and Duddingston Village.
Each walk is accompanied by a good map and a paragraph or two on each point of interest. There are photographs in each section which illustrate what to look for.
Suitable for locals
Even though we know the streets of Edinburgh inside and out, this book certainly refreshed our historical knowledge of the city and well worth a read if you’re a local.
This book is ideal for those new to the city or for visiting tourists. The guidebook has been written by someone who has walked the routes a number of times and she explains what direction you should be looking.
Each walk is given an estimated time that it takes to do, but of course, you can dip in and out of them if you get distracted with the beauty of Edinburgh.
As locals ourselves, this is one of the best books about tourist attractions and walking in Edinburgh we’ve seen.
The majority of them can be done on foot from the city centre, but others might be a short bus ride away to the start point.

The book is available to buy in local bookshops at £9.99.
