Once again, people will gather on 31st October to create a unique event in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. Join hundreds of people to mark the passing of the season against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and St Giles’ Cathedral.

Costumed performers, puppets, fire, drums and dance all combine to usher us into the Dark of the Year on Samhuinn night, the traditional Celtic New Year.

Unlike the annual April event on Calton Hill, this event is free to watch, though there will be the facility to make donations on the night.

The event begins at Johnstone Terrace at 9pm and moves down the historical Royal Mile. There will be a stage at Parliament Square where the main event will be held (until 11pm).
