FRINGE REVIEW – Kitty Cointreau’s BraHaHa

Champagne Supernova - Kitty Cointreau

If variety is the spice of life, then Kitty Cointreau’s BraHaHa is the extra-hot kind – with added relish.

A concoction of comedy, cabaret and burlesque in the perfectly appropriate underground lair of the Caves, BraHaHa is a fast-moving hour of entertainment where – if you don’t like one act, you needn’t worry – there’ll be another along (probably dragging a whole new genre with it) in approximately seven minutes.

Compered by Will Hodgson, the routines on offer tonight are all of a high standard – after two or three acts, the audience needs no further encouragement from Hodgson and are whooping and hollering as each new performer takes the stage.

Comedy comes from the likes of the insane shapethrowing of the 3 Gaga Heads and the inspired deadpan delivery of Piff The Magic Dragon; together with Hodgson’s own self-mocking style.

The burlesque routines which pepper the show are classics of the genre, featuring a couple of vintage performances from sexy scene superstar Leyla Rose; a blistering-hot fire act from Cat Aclysmic; and a glittery finale from Kitty Cointreau herself.

With a changing line-up every night, Kitty Cointreau’s BraHaHa is recommended as a way to sample some Fringe delights in a pick ‘n’ mix fashion; and also to be treated to sassy performances from some of the finest burlesque acts, in an environment which suits them down to the very last tassel.
