FRINGE REVIEW – Chris Martin: No. Not That One

“Has anyone ever lived with a dishwasher Nazi?” was one of the many questions Chris Martin asked the audience this evening during his hour long one man stand-up show at the Underbelly. Despite the heat within the venue, this new kid on the block wasn’t deterred, as he thoroughly entertained his audience.

From the outset, Chris Martin looked comfortable, and delivered a set that he was clearly proud of, and which the audience endorsed. By drawing upon everyday experiences, he provided his spectators with many a laugh as his ability to tell a good story unfolded. With relatable humour and audience engagement, he was not afraid to share with us the sort of scenario that only a comedian could get themselves involved in. This was teamed with an uncanny ability to illustrate the humour that takes place in everyday, mundane tasks, such as parking a car.

A debut show which kept the audience laughing, Chris Martin is an endearing character, who used his wit and charm to his advantage throughout the show. An impressive performance for someone with only 25 years behind him, it’s a name I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot more of.
