We absolutely love the excellent Doors Open Days held across Scotland. It’s just been announced that the weekend that many places in Edinburgh will open their doors to the public is Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September 2011. The local event is run by the Cockburn Association.
79 fascinating buildings will open their doors on this weekend for free. Some will be for the first time, some will be once in a lifetime, but they are all normally closed to the public (or charge an admission fee).
The programme has been announced and hard copies are available in city libraries. It’s a free weekend of exploring in Edinburgh that you won’t want to miss! You can download a PDF copy of the 2011 brochure here.
Make sure you plan carefully as some of the buildings are only open one day out of the weekend.
There is further information on the Edinburgh Council website.
