Edinburgh supports the Royal Wedding with themed events

With the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton only a couple of weeks away, Edinburgh is hosting a selection of Royal Wedding themed events.     

Royal Afternoon teas

You can enjoy a special Royal afternoon tea at the Balmoral Hotel on Princes Street in the luxury surroundings  within the Palm Court. At a cost of £23 per person, the Royal Afternoon tea is available now until Sunday 1st May. A Royal Champagne Afternoon Tea with a glass of Bollinger Special Cuvee is £37 per person. The Balmoral Afternoon Tea is served daily from 1.30pm to 5.30pm in Palm Court, accompanied by a harpist from 2.30 to 5.00pm from Wednesday to Sunday.

On Friday 29th April only,   The Royal Yacht Britannia, will be serving a special ‘Royal Wedding Champagne Afternoon Tea’ in the Royal Deck Tea Room. This exclusive experience is priced at £75.00 for two people (minimum of two people) and £37.50 per person for any additional places, or £27.50 for children.  The price includes admission for the Britannia tour, a glass of Champagne, a choice from a variety of speciality teas, as well as a selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. Royal Cupcakes

The excellent Cupcakes and Ribbons are doing special Royal Wedding Cupcakes  with prices starting at £19.  Fiona will deliver anywhere in the UK.  Last date for ordering cakes is Saturday 16th April.  We can vouch for the quality of her cakes – excellent!    

The Royal places of Edinburgh

Want to see all the Royal sites in one go?  Then take a Royal bus tour.  Taking in the sites of The Royal Yacht Britannia, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Royal Botanical Gardens.  A 24 hour hop-on, hop-off  ticket for the Majestic Tour is only £12 for an adult, £5 for children (5-15) and £28 for a family ticket. This tour can be in a variety of languages.   Or you can purchase the Royal Edinburgh Ticket at £22 per child and £42 per adult which includes 48 hours on any bus tour and entrance to Edinburgh Castle, Royal Yacht Britannia and the Palace of Holyroodhouse (Botanic gardens are free). This ticket saves you 30% on standard prices.

Street party

Take part in a Royal Wedding Street Party at the Ghillie Dhu.  They’ll be rolling out the bunting, cutting those cucumber sandwiches and stocking up on Pimms to bring you lots of fun on the 29th of April from 1.30pm.  For an £10.95 per person, you will get: live coverage of the big day, a buffet lunch, a glass of Pimms and live music from 8pm until the wee small hours with Dead Mans Shoes. And to round off the day, head along to the Rutland Hotel to sip on a cocktail specially created to commemorate the Royal Wedding. Their expert mixologist has come up with two new concoctions – The Rutland Royale and The Flaming Passion. 

Keeping up with the Middletons

Odyssey Boutique at 39-41 William Street are hosting a bridal shower and  “keeping up with the Middletons”.   The exclusive designer LovedbySusie (bridal couture)  is doing a fitting service whilst an in-house hair stylist will offer hair styling and make-up lessons. The event will be held on 29th April 2011 from 12-6pm.
