Valentine’s Day is coming up we thought we would publish a few suggestions on the places that are doing themed meals and some without the romantic touches. We have not tried the individual valentine’s menus out unfortunately, but know that the places we suggest do good quality food as we have eaten there previously.
In no order of preference:
Calistoga Rest 3 course dinner £25 & including wine tasting £35
The Voodoo Rooms 2 courses £19.95 and 3 courses £26.95
The Cellar Door 3 courses £25 or chef’s ‘surprise’ menu
Martin Wishart 5 courses, £70. 14th only
Agua, Grassmarket 3 courses £20. 14th only.
La Partenope 3 courses inc coffee £28.50, 14th only.
The Sheraton various choices of meals on different days, including the option of a five course menu by Executive Chef Malcolm Webster which is ‘Love-Themed Sensory Dining’ where every course is a surprise with complementary beverages to suit. £70 which includes a £10 donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind
Harvey Nichols 3 courses for £25 (£32 inc champagne) 14th February.
Slightly different The excellent Charlie and Evelyn’s table is going play host to four single ladies and four single men on Friday 11th February at 8pm serving a five course supper with canapes. Go on your own, take a friend if you’re slightly nervous. No signs of red roses, speed dating tactics or match making, just 8 single people having dinner together. We highly recommend this experience, you can read our review here .
Or if you’re not interested in the full Valentine’s meal, may we suggest an afternoon tea instead? Best enjoyed with friends and good conversation.
Mimi’s Bakehouse £12.95 per person. £4 corkage for BYOB champagne. Available daily.
Caledonian Hilton £15.95 per person, £7.50 for children’s version. Available daily.
The Howard from £16.95. Available daily.
Harvey Nichols £18 per person (£25 in champagne) Sunday 13th February only
Tigerlily from £9.95 per person. Available daily.

If you want somewhere that’s not doing any valentine-themed nights but does quick, good food, then look no further than these places:
Illegal Jacks Lothian Road. Burritos and more! Now serving Brewdogs beer and margaritas.
The Basement Bar Broughton Street. Good food in a pub setting.
Los Cardos Fresh Mex in the heart of Leith.
The Spice Pavilion Dundas Street. Indian fayre that we think is the best in town.
