REVIEW – Cafe Blush, Morningside

219 Morningside Road

Cafe Blush hits the mark

I can only say good things about Cafe Blush in Morningside.  You are greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome in this popular cafe.  The menu is excellent and caters for breakfast, lunch and all-day snacks.

Cafe Blush does a selection of gluten-free products (including bread) and uses local bakers to supply the cakey goods they don’t make themselves. Breakfast rolls are a good choice for an early start and the full breakfast is good quality.

At lunchtime, fresh soup hits the mark along with the usual suspects of toasties and paninis.  The salads are a welcomed addition for a cafe (akin to restaurant quality) and the baked potatoes are cooked in a proper tattie oven.

A great kids menu is available making this a suitable stop-off point for all the family.  The mini-Spotlight members love coming here for the scrambled egg with toast fingers or the half portion of soup.

The bathrooms have baby-friendly changing facilities and parents with wee ones positively encouraged to visit the cafe.

Amazing range of cakes

I I wasn’t convinced that a piece of carrot cake was one of my ‘five-a-day’ as the owner insisted, but who needs justifcation when it comes to cake?

Open daily from 8.30am – 5pm  (9am – 5pm Saturdays)  Closed Sundays.

Cafe Blush also appears on our Edinburgh Cake Trail.

Suitable for disabled?    Yes, ground floor entrance with accessible bathroom.
