Sunday Brunch Club

Edinburgh’s top socialising club – the Sunday Brunch Club

*update January 2012*

Membership of the Sunday Brunch Club is free for 2012.

Edinburgh Spotlight recently met with Stephanie Taylor who runs the Sunday Brunch Club to learn a little more about this exciting social club in the city.  Chatting over tea and cake, we emerged two hours later laughing and joking like old friends.

Originally from Birmingham, Stephanie fell in love with Auld Reekie when she first visited the city and aimed to move to Edinburgh as soon as work circumstances allowed, so understands what it’s like to be new to town and finding new friends.

Originally started as a hobby in 2005, the Sunday Brunch Club now has over 500 members who pay the nominal £75 annual fee with thousands more receiving the weekly email about upcoming events and social meetings.

The club is perfect for those who have just moved to town, but also for people already living in Edinburgh who just wish to increase their social circle and get out more.  The members are a mixture of single people and married couples, mostly in their 30s & 40s, but all ages are welcomed.  Business networking is encouraged and it’s also perfect for those who want to keep fit with all the weekly sports and exercise events offered.

Popular weekly sessions include tennis, badminton and 5aside football and there are also a range of interesting meetings such as the book lovers group.

Once a month, there is the Coffee Connections event where potential members can come and see if the club is right for them by chatting to current members. The Sunday Brunch Club is not a dating club, but there have been a few romances between members over the years as human nature always brings people together!  Coffee Connections is perfect for meeting Stephanie and others to see if you would benefit from membership with no pressure to sign up on the evening.  The next one is 8th December 2010.

The lovely Stephanie

The Sunday Brunch Club are open to new ideas and experiences and Stephanie is excellent at getting good deals for the group.  Although the club started for Sunday Brunches, there are meals out every month at various restaurants and shortly, some of the members will be dining at our favourite, Charlie and Evelyn’s Table.

Upcoming events for the Sunday Brunch Club include their popular Grand Hogmanay Ball at the Sheraton Hotel with a live band and great view of the fireworks at midnight.  Looking forward into 2011, there is the annual ski trip (everything organised for you) and many hillwalking trips to get involved in (car shares offered).

We think that this is the perfect social solution for professionals in Edinburgh and will be popping along to the next monthly meet to say hello.  For £6 per month, you can have your social life taken care of, which sounds like a bargain to me!  What are you waiting for?   Get involved and join here.

You can follow the Sunday Brunch Club on twitter, join their facebook fan page and see some of their photos on flickr.  Stephanie also writes a blog about her adventures in Edinburgh.

Thank you Stephanie, it was a pleasure to meet you.
