EVENT – St Andrew’s Day Celebrations 2010 in Edinburgh

St Andrew’s day 2010 is fast approaching and we would just like to highlight a few events that are happening in Edinburgh over the weekend and up to and including the 30th November.  You can also look at the official St Andrew’s Day website.  Some of the events cross over with Edinburgh’s Christmas which is open for business.  

– In St Andrew Square itself, there is four days’ celebration to enjoy.  Everything is free, so you can enjoy family-based activities including workshops and storytelling. Saturday 27 November – Tuesday 30 November 11am – 4pm daily.
– On Tuesday 30 November, there is the finale of the celebrations.  Starting at 6pm, there will be a ceilidh that you can join in (free) with Portobello Ceilidh Band providing the foot stomping music. Suitable for all ages.
– If you’re in St Andrew Square for any of the events, have a look at the Nativity Scene  in the square and  be sure to pop around the corner to marvel at Jenner’s Christmas tree.
– As part of the Scottish Parliament family celebrations, there will be Jacobite-themed events on from Friday 26 November until Monday 29 November. Events are free, but need to be booked in advance.

– Highland dancing at the National Museum of Scotland.  13:45/14:45 (30 mins)
– 2 for 1 admission at Surgeon’s Hall Museums on 30th November only.
