If it’s late-night variety of the highest calibre you’re after, look no further than the Pleasance Ghillie Dhu this August with its raucous and hugely-entertaining Vive Le Cabaret.
Compered by that mischievous mephistopheles himself, Desmond O’Connor, this is 75 minutes of non-stop burlesque and ‘new cabaret’ themed entertainment.
Stars are tumbling out of the Fringe firmament for a chance to guest at this show, so last night we were treated to performances from comedian Robin Ince, cabaret diva extraordinaire Meow Meow and a high-flying finale from the acrobats from Circus Trick Tease.
As well as the nightly-changing guests, Vive Le Cabaret also features a semi-regular cast of variety stars, including the hilariously dapper Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, the chavtastic charms of Kiki Kaboom and the dirty ditties of Desmond himself.
This is most definitely adult-oriented entertainment and not for the easily offended, but it is still carried off with a charm and style that is highly entertaining and impossible to resist.
With no show guaranteed to be the same two nights in a row, Vive Le Cabaret is a pot-luck pick of the best cabaret and comedy acts of the Fringe and is well worth sourcing a fast-selling out ticket for.
Ticket information is available on the Pleasance website
