FRINGE REVIEW – The Ginge, the Geordie and the Geek

11-29 Aug (not 17)  1645 (1745) @ Just The Tonic, Caves

The lads behind The Ginge, the Geordie and the Geek should be very proud of themselves.  Not only do they have manners when sending through their press release, (please and thank yous) – my friend and I are still talking (and laughing) about every character in the show a day later.  Graeme Rooney, Paul Charlton and Kevin O’Loughlin have created an excellent fast-paced sketch show packed full with genuinely original characters and surrealism.

The audience were treated to the boys opening their show in nothing but their underpants with a voice over explaining where they’ve come from.   The lads went onto deliver solid comedy performances throughout their 30 or so sketches.  Some characters made more than one appearance;  such as the extremely committed charity collector, a scarecrow and superhero ‘Polish man’, which cleverly linked the whole show together with everyday props and the use of music clips.

Their talent was uniformly superb and comedic timing exceptional.  It’s very rare for a show of this nature to receive applause and laughs at every joke, but that’s exactly what happened.  The ending of the show was nothing short of hilarious and refreshingly original.

After 60 minutes of the show,  I left wanting more!  This show guarantees belly-aching laughs and I have no doubt the boys will become a household name in the future.  The audience certainly got their moneys worth at this stonkingly funny show.  Buy a ticket now!

You can see more of their work on their website.
