FRINGE REVIEW – Sam Simmons, Fail

Until 29th Aug, 2115 (2215) @ Gilded Balloon

Sam Simmons is a zany breath of fresh air in Edinburgh.  An established comic voice in his homeland Australia, Simmons debuted on the fringe last year with his similarly surreal stand up show Problems.

His new show Fail is a smoother, more confident effort from Simmons. Like a vortex it quickly sucks you into his rapid-fire world of the silly and the absurd.

Tinged with melancholy, madness and childlike wonder, Fail is part TV quiz show, part random ramblings.  Sure, you could call it an immature, child-like and pointless hour of  entertainment but you could also call it hilarious genius from a master comedian.

While Simmons may polarize his audiences, his well-sculpted, if not ridiculous, show packs a punch from start to finish.
