Dr Franken von Pumpenstein needs your help to save the pumpkins of the world from being changed into carriages by Fairy Godmothers. Help stop the tide of pink fluffiness by joining in and helping him and his assistant Knucklecracker to concoct magic potions and cast spells.
This production promised a fun time for those who like to get involved in stage shows, and it certainly delivers, but at no time is the joining in embarrassing or at the expense of the participant, so everyone is happy. Our junior reviewers were a little sceptical when told that they were going to be going to an early Hallowe’en party, but soon cast their inhibitions aside and were joining in and even volunteering to be on stage.
The scene is set in the Nightmare School, where Dr von Pumpenstein takes one class and alternates with Miss Poupé Pants (that’s how she likes it to be pronounced), taking lessons and getting the whole audience involved with guessing games, mimes, singing, and dancing. The audience even gets to vote to determine the direction of the next scene.
All in all, a fun time and at between one-and-a-half and two hours, a fine way to spend an early afternoon. The age guidance is from 7 and up, but we felt that younger children who are not too spooked by werewolves and scary voices would love it too. Pull your scariest face and go along and join in the fun!
