Edinburgh Fringe veteran, Adam Hills has a new little friend. His name is Honker. Given to Adam for his baby girl from a member of the audience on the first night of his Fringe 2010 run, Adam has decided to loan his little friend out to people for 24 hours to see adventures he gets up to. It is of course, all for fun, but in the process, Adam hopes to raise some money for Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital.
Honker even has his own facebook page, twitter account and most importantly, a Just Giving page where donations can be made direct to the Sick Kids. All of these details and the story behind Honker are on Adam’s blog.
We spoke with Honker after tonight’s show, with his temporary keeper Lenny, (aged 10) about what he plans to get up to over the next 48 hours.
“I’m really excited to be going on adventures with Lenny. He’s such a funny guy and pretty much stole the show from Adam tonight”.
He went on to say: “Lenny has plans to take me around town whilst he’s doing the tourist thing over the next couple of days and I couldn’t be more pleased to hang out with a lad that I know will look after me”.
Lenny confirmed that he plans to take good care of Honker until he has to return him to Adam on Tuesday night, when he will be a guest at his show again.
Adam hopes to get the support of Irn-Bru for the Honker campaign since he lives on the Scottish juice during the month of August.
Monday update – Huge thanks to the wonderful people behind the Scotch Whisky Experience, The Real Mary King’s Close and Mercat Tours who have all offered Honker into their tourist attraction for photos today. Timberbush Tours have offered Honker a seat on their Loch Ness Tour so that Honker can meet Nessie! Radio Forth DJ Grant Stott has welcomed Honker into the studio today and that’s where we’re headed now!
Thank you all for being accomodating and helping to raise money for Sick Kids.
