REVIEW – Tapa, Leith

*****

Tapa for 2 for £10

Tapa in Leith is an excellent place for Spanish food and they have a wonderful selection of tapas which represent genuine Spanish fare.

I have always been warmly welcomed here and the service is faultless.  The Spanish background music is at the right volume to provide atmosphere, but not interfere with conversation.

A perfect venue for parties and stag and hen nights (but are placed in another part of the restaurant so if having a romantic meal, you wont be disturbed).  Children are welcome in true Spanish style and Tapa is open all day for coffee and perfect for a bit of work due to their fast wifi.

I have eaten here a few times now- once as part of a group meal and the most recent visit was lunch with a friend to take advantge of their Tapa for 2 deal over lunchtime. There is a good selection of wines to choose from, but we chose beer to accompany our meal and in addition were served iced water with lime.

We were also served complimentary bread and olive oil as we pondered the menu. I questioned the waiter if the seven dishes would be adequate for the two of us dining, or should we order extra – but he suggested we waited to see what we were served.   I needn’t have been worried as the dishes served (only six pictured) were ample for our ferocious appetites.

We tucked into all the dishes and savoured all the flavours as they rolled over our taste buds.  I loved the alioli over the potatoes and the meatballs were succulent.  The salad was in a beautiful dressing and the chicken was tender.  All of the dishes presented to us were faultless and are rotated from the restaurants 38 Tapa choices.
Of course, we were interested to sample dessert and opted for the chocolate and churros which was heaven on a plate.  I dipped the freshly made hot churros into the chocolate and kept the plate to my side of the table wishing my dining partner had ordered his own.  This dessert really was the perfect finish to a perfect meal.
