Mark cooper completes his 50 marathon challenge
Keith and I met Edinburgh lad Mark Cooper last year and were so impressed with the challenge he had set himself, that we immediately wrote a Spotlight feature on him to help promote his fund raising run for Edinburgh charity, Headway.
We are pleased to announce that he has completed his 50 marathons from Amsterdam to Barcelona and will be heading home to Scotland safter a short rest – where we will give him a huge pat on the back.
Speaking to Mark on the phone in Barcelona a short time ago he told us: “I just want to thank everyone for the support they have given me throughout this epic journey which helped me find the energy to dig deep every day.”
“I am extremely happy to be finished and what a better place to celebrate than Barcelona?” On questioning him what he’s looking forward to now he’s finished, he said: “arriving back in Edinburgh, I’ve missed Scotland so much and can’t wait to see all my friends.”
“Who knows what will be next on the cards for me, I’ll start with a wee celebratory beer to begin with and then get the thinking head on about my next challenge.”
We donated to his amazing challenge and know that he would love it if you could spare a few pounds to help him exceed his target. What Mark has done is nothing short of an amazing human achievement and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has helped him on his journey.
We look forward to see what Mark has planned next, but for now, he surely deserves to put his feet up and relax a little.
