The Pavilion Cafe is a situated at Jawbone Walk in the Meadows, a popular green space in Edinburgh City Centre.
I visited it at the weekend when the Meadows Festival was on and purchased a beautiful lentil pate with spinach roll for £2.50, a soft drink for £1 and a slice of malteser cake, £1.50.
There are seats outside to watch the world go by and the quality of food was surprisingly good and I wouldn’t hestitate to eat here again. Their hours are 10ish to 6ish every day of the summer, which I read to be weather dependent!

I’ve been here twice now (I always give a place a second chance) and I’m sorry to say I found the staff dismissive, the food bland, and the venue itself quite unsanitary.
To be specific, on both occasions the staff have barely grunted at me when taking my order; the inside of the pavillion is nothing short of a complete mess (boxes etc lying everywhere); and the tables outside were uncleared and also surrounded by a urine-like odour.
I just can’t see how anyone could enjoy eating here. It’s a real shame as the Meadows is a great area which really needs a good cafe.
