Aug 7th – 22nd, 6pm-7.15pm at Venue150
One of our favourite places at the Fringe, Venue150 at the EICC is set to shake, rattle and roll to the exciting and varied beats of the pop drum this year with the UK premiere of Ryhthm Drum & Dance – The Drum Show From Berlin.
Born from show creator & award-winning choreographer Freddie Rutz’s lifelong passion for the beat, the show will feature an international cast of four drummers and nine dancers in a set filled with joy, passion and talent.
Tracing the history of the pop drum in the 20th century, the show will feature routines based on rock, funk, techno and – in what promises to be a standout segment – tap dancing, where the expert dancers will tap their toes atop of specially assembled drum sets.
With some stunning lighting and set design, the show promises to be a visual as well as an aural treat. After sell-out shows across Europe, we can’t wait for the rhythm of the drum and the spectactle of the dance to arrive in Edinburgh in August.
We’ve always loved percussion shows – from the foxy beats of Drum Cat to the mighty samurai pounding of Tao. Rhythm Drum & Dance looks set to make 2010 pound to a different rhythm, and here at Edinburgh Spotlight we’re supporting this show in the lead up to and throughout the Fringe – stay tuned for more exciting news about this show in the weeks to come!
