An increase in the usual number of Dutch runners are anticipated for the annual event, including a group from the Zevenheuvelenloop club of Nijmegen (a club based around the long-standing Nijmegen 15km road-race called the Seven Hills).
This will be the 31st running of the Edinburgh Seven Hills, a testing course of over 14 miles with over 2200 feet of ascent and descent, starting and finishing on Calton Hill. A record 350 completed the course last year, and an even greater number are expected this time. The event is split in two, with those of modest ambitions setting off (in The Challenge) half an hour earlier than the serious runners (in The Race).
As in recent years, those who complete the Seven Hills course having already completed the recent (full) Edinburgh marathon will receive a whisky double (miniature) to mark their completion of the Edinburgh Double for 2010.
Full details of the event can be found on the website www.seven-hills.org.uk and it’s not too late to enter – you can register on the day for £12.
If you’re out for a walk at the weekend and see lots of people running up and down the hills, you’ll now know why. Edinburgh Spotlight wishes everyone taking part good luck!
