We love the Taste of Edinburgh food festival at Inverleith Park and were super excited for this afternoon’s session.
The event is extremely well organised and the atmosphere was great, despite a couple of showers of rain. The Jam House were supplying the live music in the middle of the event and were fantastic, even though their version of Riders on the Storm seemed to co-incide with the rain starting. I was impressed with the boxes of ponchos that were handed out to keep attendees dry.
There are many Edinburgh companies with stalls this year, such as Findlays of Portobello and a stall representing many of neighbouring Stockbridge shops. Other companies that have stalls are from all over the UK with free samples of their products, encouraging you to buy their delicious wares. Many of the stalls have special Taste of Edinburgh offers on for the whole of this weekend, making them good value.
Dotted around the arena are the various demonstration areas where celebrity chefs show us how it’s done. I popped along to Jean Christophe-Novelli’s demonstration today and would say that is was 90% full of women!
There are many great Edinburgh restaurants that are offering a sample of their food in exchange for ‘crowns’ which can be purchased from the Taste of Edinburgh bank. Each restaurant offers a starter, a main and a dessert and you can mix and choose from all the places on offer. Mains are around 8-10 crowns which equates to £4-5. There are also excellent vouchers to be picked up such as 40% off food at The Rutland.
You can spend a few hours walking around seeing everything on offer whilst drinking and eating to your hearts content. The weather is due to stay dry over the weekend, so I really can’t think of a better place to be. Enjoy some more photos and have a great weekend in Edinburgh whatever you’re doing, but we’re heading back to Taste.
Suitable for disabled? The area is all on grass with no flooring. There is space for wheelchairs in the demonstration tents.
