Kitsch coffee bar in Bernard Street is a great wee place in the heart of Leith. I use Kitsch for their fast wifi and good food at reasonable prices when I am between meetings in the area. A hybrid of a cafe and a bar, it is a great place to hang out and re fuel.
All the cafe usual suspects are on the menu but there’s always a couple of interesting specials as well which is one of the reasons Kitsch is different from all the rest. Portion sizes vary and those with a Desperate Dan appetite might be disappointed. Kitsch do a great selection of tray bakes and other cakey goods and I often plump for one of their delicious scones with jam.
Prices are reasonable for the Leith area but what makes this Leith haven stand out from the rest are the art exhibitions and the theatre productions it hosts from time to time. Kitsch also have a great selection of board games for you to play, or why not relax with one of their books on offer? My personal favourite aspect of Kitsch is the Hilda Ogden-esque 3 ducks on the wall, but there are several other charming decorations around the place which make it feel homely.
Service is friendly and efficient and has a good all round laid-back atmosphere.
