I love
Bella Italia in Hanover Street for a quick bite to eat when I’m in the centre of town. It may be an Italian national chain of restaurants but I love the pasta and other carb-laden dishes on offer here. They do bargain lunchtime menus and have choices for children which are at fair prices. I love their garlic dough sticks with garlic butter to start and for a main course, I can never see past the Marco Polo dish - which is duck in hoisin sauce and spring onion with penne pasta. The formula has never changed in the years I’ve been eating it and wins me over every time.

Duck and hoisin pasta
My dining partner on this visit had a generous portion of meatballs and spaghetti which he said were delicious and hit the mark. Real Parmesan cheese and black pepper is offered when the food is served.

Meatballs
Bella Italia do a good range of desserts, including a fudge sundae for 2 people, which really does need more than 1 person to finish it as well as being delicious.
Verdict? A great Italian place for quick bite to eat with quick efficient service.
Suitable for disabled? The restaurant can be entered on the ground floor and is where the tables are filled up first before they open upstairs, so you may have to wait for a ground floor table to become available. The bathrooms are located upstairs though.
