We would just like to update our readers on local Edinburgh lad, Stephen Green on his attempt climbing Mount Everest for charity. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions and someone handing him an empty oxygen tank, he had to turn back 200m from the summit.
It was thought that he might get a second attempt at the summit, but safety had to come first and the decision to return to base camp was made. Had the oxygen error not occurred, I am sure that Stephen would have fulfilled his summit bid. He must be devastated, but it is more important to still be alive when dealing with such high altitude and the ‘death zone’.
Stephen was our spotlight feature before he headed out to Nepal to climb the world’s highest mountain and we look forward to interviewing him on his return to Edinburgh to get the full story.
