Spanair are celebrating the launch of their new route from Edinburgh to Barcelona by creating a huge sandcastle sculpture in Castle Street.
Scottish artist Kate Robinson began building the sculpture yesterday at 10am and the finished creation will celebrate the cultural links between Barcelona and Edinburgh by representing famous landmarks from both cities.
The twist is that the sculpture will also be hiding 100 Spanair flight tickets to Barcelona. All this week, you are invited to register on You should be in Barcelona right now to have the chance of getting your hands on one of the tickets. Once registered, the first 100 people to arrive at Castle Street for the sculpture’s unveiling on Saturday 22nd May at 10am will each be given 1 minute to dig through it to find their golden ticket to sunshine and tapas.
Edinburgh Spotlight visited the location yesterday in the hope of spotting where the tickets have been placed, but can report that they’ve been hidden already.
