I love the Jolly Judge pub which sits at the foot of a vennel in James Court. The Jolly Judge is only 2 minutes from the Castle but is a great discovery for locals and tourists.
They do a good selection of draught beers and malt whiskies alongside real ales, wines and spirits.
On a warm summers’ day, it’s great to sit at one of the outside tables in such an historical area. At other times of the year, it’s great to cosy together in this intimate pub and see tourists mixing with the locals.
The Jolly Judge has been here for many many years, but has moved with the time and now even has wi fi. Bring your good coversation and chat with other patrons over a light lunch or a beer. Definitely worth tracking down on a map.
Suitable for disabled? Unfortunately the pub is down a few stairs, but it would of course be possible to sit outside in warmer weather.
