REVIEW – My Big Fat Greek Kitchen

Brougham Street, Tollcross

My Big Fat Greek Kitchen is a welcome addition to the Tollcross area and the food here is a selection of authentic Greek dishes.  We were warmly greeted by the owner one lunch time to take advantage of their excellent lunch menu.  We chose the excellent house white wine to go with our meal and were not disappointed.

I had the home made feta cheese parcels and my dining partner had a selection of dips.  Both were delicious, despite the bed of salad being a little sparse.

Delicious starter

For the main course, I chose the chicken kebab with salad and french fries.  The chicken was seasoned beautifully with a number of herbs and spices and was very tender.  The salad with the main course was more generous and full of peppers and olives.

My dining partner chose the vegetarian stuffed pepper with rice and vine tomatoes which was flavoured beautifully and I didn’t even mind the ‘messy’ presentation.

The service was efficient and despite it being a Tuesday lunchtime, the seats were filling up with students and tables of pensioners who all seemed to enjoy their choices as well.  We opted for the baklava for dessert, which is one of the many great options available.

Verdict?  Authentic Greek restaurant to try out native food or re-live the food from a Greek Holiday.  A welcome addition in Edinburgh’s expanding choices.

Suitable for disabled?  Yes and accessible toilets.
