NEWS – Historic Scotland Membership 15 Months For Price of 12

Historic Scotland are doing a fabulous offer at the moment for membership.  If you sign up by direct debit, you get 15 months for the price of 12 .

Hsitoric ScotlandAlthough some Historic Scotland places are free, the main ones such as Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, Linlithgow Palace etc can cost a lot of money to enter.  Do a property search to work out financial benefit.

I like using Undiscovered Scotlands’ guide to Historic Scotland places as you can check what each one looks like incase you travel a lot of miles for a ‘Castle’ to find it’s a ruined one.

All details can be found at 3 months for free

Pricing is below and ‘plus children’ equates to up to 3 of them, so a family pass is really good value for 15 months.

  Monthly Annual

Adult £3.37 £40
Adult plus children £3.79 £45
2 Adults £5.91 £71
2 Adults plus children £6.33 £76
Concession £2.66 £32
Concession plus children £3.08 £37
2 Concessions £4.66 £56
2 Concessions plus children £5.08 £61

You need to sign up by direct debit to qualify for this offer.  I took advantage of this offer last year when they were offering a similar deal and have Historic Scotland membership until the 31st December 2010 and have visited places that would have cost me over £200 in entrance fees had I paid for them individually.

Even as a visiting tourist, it could be worth buying a yearly membership if travelling around Scotland, or you could buy an Explorer Pass which is aimed at the short term visitor.

Recent visits have included Direlton Castle in East Lothian and Blackness Castle.  Having this membership and living in Edinburgh means you can pop up to Edinburgh Castle anytime you like and have a drink overlooking Princes Street Gardens.

The pass must be purchased before 11th July 2010 to take advantage of this offer

Other benefits of this offer include the following

• Free entry to 78 visitor attractions across Scotland.
• Free entry to over 400 daytime events and activities – from experiencing living history to recitals and re-enactments.
• 20% retail discount in all Historic Scotland shops.
• Free glossy quarterly magazine.
• Half price entry to over 500 attractions in England, Wales and the Isle of Man. Free entry upon renewal of membership.
• The opportunity to take part in members’ activities from guided tours and lectures to lunches and concerts
