The date for this year’s fabulous Stockbridge Duck Race has been announced and it will be taking place on Sunday 4th July 2010. Ducks will be launched over the bridge around 3pm.
There is a facebook group to be kept up to date with the latest duck racing news.
The Stockbridge Duck Race is an annual event held to help raise money for local charities. The chosen charities for 2010 are Stockbridge House, now LIFECARE and St. Columba’s Hospice.
All ducks are numbered and released into the Water of Leith from the the main bridge, then caught by our resident duck wardens further down stream. The first lucky ducks to cross the line are noted and the owners are awarded a prize generously donated by many businesses.
The ducks are now on sale at Hectors, The Antiquary and The Bailie and a few other Stockbridge shops, costing £1.50 a duck. Spread the word about the Edinburgh race of the year and contact the organisers via their facebook page if you can donate some prizes.
A great fun day out for all the family with the added benefit of raising money for charity. Edinburgh Spotlight will be buying their duck and feeding it up prior to the race 😉
