The main Tourist Information Centre in Edinburgh sits on top of Princes Mall / Waverley Market. Opening hours vary throughout the year, with longer opening hours in the summer to deal with the extra tourists visiting the city. The tourist centre sells Edinburgh and Scotland related books, maps, small souvenirs and stamps. The staff speak a number of languages as indicated on their name badges. Free information leaflets covering Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland are available but apart from the basic ‘Welcome to Edinburgh’ leaflet, you need to request these from behind the counter, depending on your interests.
The centre also offers accommodation booking service but charge a small fee on top of the price. You can also buy the Edinburgh Pass here which is perfect if arriving by bus or train, but be sure to visit the Information Centre at the airport if arriving by plane as the airport bus is included in the Edinburgh Pass.
You may wish to have a look at out things to do section which covers all the places that the tourist information would as well.
The staff are very helpful and the centre is completely accessible. Be sure to pay a visit when you’re into town but we can’t promise there will be no queues like the picture denotes.
