It’s a day hungry fans of burritos in Edinburgh have been waiting for…
At midday today, Jack swung open the glass doors of Illegal Jacks and the madness began!
Serving hungry customers
Offering free burritos all day, Illegal Jacks created a storm on Twitter in the morning, causing queues to form outside the Lothian Road restaurant.
Amongst the first to get free burritos!
As soon as the doors opened, eager lunchers rushed in and the amazingly efficient staff at Illegal Jacks began to roll burritos like they were going out of fashion.
Queue down Lothian Road!
With the combined word of mouth, sign outside and interest from passers-by, the queue soon snaked down the length of Lothian Road.
Unfazed, Jack and his crew continued to serve, with the kitchen and serving area out front a blur of activity.

The event is proving to be a fantastic success for Illegal Jacks, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Jack runs out of his supply of over 1,000 burritos before planning to shut the doors – and relax – at 10pm tonight.

I waited in the queue for 20 minutes and moved no further than 6 feet. Poor show. If you’re going to have an event like this you need to have the manpower to back it up.

Gie the guy a break. If you’ve been to Jack’s before, you will realised that the serving area is only so big and can only heat one burrito at a time. There were PLENTY of staff on today (the polish twins are so friendly). Of course you’re going to have to wait a while – Lothian Road is a very busy place especially when there’s free food on the go.
myself (jacky boy) andy boy and petey boy met up with jamie boy. skated down to the medows, looked on the ground…BOSH!!! free burritos at ilegal jacky boys! followed the delictable aroma of hot hot burrito goodness along to jacks.. “still doin the free bad boys?” bosh bosh bosh bosh 4 TIDY burritos served up swiftly by a bevvy of charming dames! wwhhhhaaaaaa-BELT!!!!!
