New fleet of airport buses, March 2010

Updated – April 2nd 2010

Airlink (blue sky thinking) operates the quickest route between Edinburgh Airport and the city centre – usually around 25/30 minutes.  These buses are all wheelchair friendly and the company behind them have just rolled out a brand new fleet of buses with new features perfect for the travelling to and from the airport.

Each airport bus now has

…dedicated luggage area with CCTV security

…cleaner emissions with euro 5 engines

…warm, welcoming interior

…tables and comfy seats

…next stop information

…free Wi-Fi

A single fare is £3.50 for an adult and £2 for a child, or for an open return it’s £6 for an adult and £3 for a child.  You can now buy tickets online but it’s easy enough to do when you board or from the Airlink kiosk at the airport.

The airlink bus starts at 0420 hours from Waverley Bridge and continues until 2345 hours, making sure all flight times are covered.  During the night, you can get the Night Bus 22 to get to the airport using a slightly different route.

When arriving at the airport, you simply step outside the terminal and purchase your ticket before you board.   Buses leave every 15 minutes or when full and there is a bus tracker at the airport.  The bus is a very economical way to travel into the city.
