Graham Tiso’s Edinburgh Outdoor Experience in Leith is an excellent place for all your outdoor clothing and equipment needs. Offering free parking on site, this branch of the chain suits some people more than their Rose Street shop in the middle of town.
They sell clothes in relation to what season it is and in visiting in February, they are selling winter fleeces and warm trousers. All year round, they have an excellent range of travel accessories, backpacks, sleeping bags, shoes and walking boots. The great thing about Tisos is that the staff are well qualified in recommending the right equipment for you. It’s not about commissions here – just sound advice.
Rocky paths simulate the real world when trying out boots, but they obviously don’t have simulators for their watersports and rock climbing sections.
I have bought backpacks from here in the past and found it very helpful when the assistant loaded the pack I was buying with climbing gear to replicate the weight I would be carrying on my wordly travels.
There is no hard sell here and that is one of the reasons that makes this place so relaxed to shop in.
If you wish to relax even further, then head over to the Cairn Cafe at the rear of the store for the usual fayre of paninis, soups, tea, coffee and cakes. All reasonably priced and perfect if you need to think about a purchase from the main store a little longer.
Room 4 Health occupies the first floor and offers a wide range of therapies, massage and yoga classes.
Suitable for disabled? Yes, ground floor even access.
