We were impressed by a recent visit to the Nelson Monument on Calton Hill, so were delighted to hear that it has just been upgraded to a 4-star visitor attraction by Visit Scotland.

In recognition of this news, the monument had 4 giant stars projected upon it last night – these will also be on show tonight and tomorrow (26th & 27th February).

With the reinstatement of the historic time ball (originally to signal one o’clock GMT to shipping in the Forth) and the interior of the monument upgraded as a result of the Twelve Monuments Restoration Project, now is a great time to visit the fascinating attraction and enjoy the wonderful views from the top (well, once the weather clears up, anyway).

Congratulations to the Nelson Monument for its well-deserved new rating!
