There’s a great play park in West Princes Street Gardens, right in the middle of the town centre of Edinburgh. It is perhaps one of the most scenic play parks in Scotland, with a backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
If you live in Edinburgh and haven’t been for some time, it’s now a chess / castle themed playpark complete with soft flooring throughout, so helpful for those inevitable tumbles onto the ground.
There is a mixture of climbing ropes and walls, tunnels, slides and lookout posts! A real great mixture and it’s possible to go from one end of the play park to the other without touching the ground.
There are benches nearby for parents to sit and rest on which provide a fantastic view of the Castle.
The nearest toilets are just to the side of the park and in the summer months, there are food and drink places open. You can enter via King Stables Road or one of the many gates on Princes Street (two step entrances and some steep and cobbled).
Have a break from shopping or a picnic in the park right in the middle of Edinburgh city centre – what a treat!
