The Cat’s Miaow at 36 Elm Row is a delightful place to buy a gift for friends. It stocks a wide range of more unusual gifts and items with such a great choice, it’s easy to find something for everyone.
A lot of their goods are locally sourced, eco-friendly and Fair Trade which is always a bonus.
They even stock the fabulous Padraig Slippers one of only two places in Edinburgh to stock the magical footwear. They have them in both adult and children’s sizes.

There is a great selection of jewellery and trinkets with all corners of the globe represented. I love the bright picture frames and cute tea pots at very reasonable prices.

They have a great collection of cards for sale, catering to all occasions, with some lovely handmade cards by local artists. I always seem to find ‘just the one’ I need when I come in here as stock is always rotating.

The Cat’s Miaow also does a small collection of cashmere clothes and a humorous and cute range of baby grows etc.
Clothing range
There’s a lot squeezed into this little gem of a shop and I doubt you would leave empty handed. Although it’s on Elm Row, it’s just a short walk from the Omni centre and well worth the stretch of the legs. Once you start shopping here for gifts (or treats for yourself) you may never go anywhere else again. My Christmas shopping was completed here the other week, with a perfect little something for all my friends and family.

Suitable for disabled ? Yes, it’s all on one level, but not a huge amount of room to move about it, but the staff are very helpful.

Of my numerous customers in Scotland, whom I call on every month, the constant pleasure of the variety and aesthetic pleasure of the contents of the Cats’ Miaou renders this shop quite one of the best gift shops in Scotland. Small is indeed proven here to be beautiful, which applies to the staff as well as the wonderful array of goods.
