Iglu, Jamaica Street
I visited one Saturday for an early lunch with a friend but we ended up ordering the same dishes. Even on a Saturday, there was a set menu for 2 courses, although we ended up paying a small supplement for the steak.
For starter we had vegatatian haggis spring rolls, salad and sweet chili sauce.

Haggis spring rolls
Haggis and sweet chili wasn’t a combination I had tried before, but it was really tasty without the sauce being too spicy.
We both ordered steak for our main and it was perfectly cooked with lovely garlic butter melting over the meat as it was served. The chips were handcut, thick and delicious.

Steak and chips
Time did not allow for dessert, but the cheescake or cappuccino mousse looked tempting. We finished our meal with a lovely organic tea and continued our day.
A wonderful little find in the heart of the New Town.
Suitable for disabled ? Yes, there are seats on the ground floor, although there is seating upstairs, so best to reserve ahead.

We had our wedding reception in the upstairs restaurant at Iglu in 2007, and it was incredible. The chefs working in a micro-sized kitchen knocked out an absolutely astonishing meal for thirty people. We’re moving back to Edinburgh (we live in London at the moment) in April next year, and a return to Iglu will be very high on our list of things to do.
Isn’t it just a brilliant place ? I would love to go to a function there, glad you had a great time. The quality has not dropped whatsover in the last couple of years, I’ve always had a good meal here.
