Baxters at Ocean Terminal was originally just a shop selling all their wonderful produce and kitchen wares, but they opened a wonderful cafe/restaurant within their premises.
You can enter it from the second or third floor of Ocean Terminal and you waited to be seated. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 10.30am, which isn’t late considering the mall only opens at 10am. I had already eaten my normal breakfast at home so decided not to opt for the Big Baxters Scottish Breakfast at £6.95 (includes tea or coffee + refills) althought I am sure I could’ve managed it.
I opted for a pot of tea £1.70 and the freshly baked scone (choice of plain, fruit, cheese or cherry) at £1.95. I was informed that the scones were just due out the oven (it was bang on 10.30am) but I didn’t mind waiting for freshly baked scones with Baxters jam !
It was piping hot as it was served to me and aboslutely delicious. Nothing better than a freshly baked scone like my granny used to make.
The pot of tea supplied over two cups and the tables were set beautifully with a flower upon each one.
I sat and read my magazine whilst looking up and over the harbour, even though it was a dreich day.
Lunches of Baxter’s soup and main meals are available from 12 noon, so I will be heading back again to sample those dishes too.
Great wee find for breakfast and at £3.65 for tea and a scone, very reasonably priced aswell
Suitable for disabled ? Yes, if you enter from the third floor (lifts available). You cannot enter from the second as the restaurant is on the third floor and accessed by stairs within the shop.
