REVIEW – Urban Outfitters, Princes Street

Urban Outfitters opened their new Edinburgh store today.  It’s located on the site of the old Zavvi/Virgin store at 124 Princes Street.

The shop still smelt of wood and paint, but has been decorated beautifully to the style of Urban Outfitter stores throughout the world.

As well as fabulous clothes and accessories for men and women, Urban Outfitters have a gift section.  In the Princes Street store, it’s on the lower ground floor and I ventured down to have a look.

This section of the store is not suitable for children who can read, as every second card, gift and even Christmas bauble had the F word on it.  Some of the gifts are very expensive for what they are – a ‘Ho Bl**dy Ho’ bauble for £5 anyone ?

There is definitely a wide selection of ‘cheeky gifts’ – something for close friends or people with a great sense of humour.  I did find some website friendly egg cups for sale that were cute as they were in the style of a VW camper van – £8 for 4.

Trendy music is piped throughout the store, but there is also a whole music section to choose from on the ground floor.  They even have an ipod where you can listen to everything available before you buy.

The whole shop is a little pricier than normal high street chains, but they are at the cutting edge of fashion with a wonderful selection to choose from.
