Boosh Hairdressers
Boosh hairdressers at 307 Cowgate (opposite the Holiday Inn) is almost 10 years old. The salon’s opening date in March 2000, co-incided brilliantly with my regular hairdresser retiring. I only had to endure one visit to a ‘well known’ salon chain where I was barely acknowledged and hair cut horrendously priced for the quality of cut. Now three family members and numerous friends get their hair cut here.

307 Cowgate
Mary Mulhern, owner and head stylist did her training with Toni & Guy but was always dreaming of owning her own salon. She took the leap before the millenium and opened Boosh in the year 2000 and has been going from strength to strength ever since.
The salon is a little haven which is fantastic to relax in whilst getting your hair done. All the girls are lovely and always ask how you’re doing. Some of them started off as Saturday girls and are now fully fledged stylists themselves. They are trained by Mary to her high standards, so if Mary isn’t available, you end up with a ‘mini me’ cut anyway.

The Boosh Salon
The salon is decorated beautifully with local artists’ work on the walls. A recent addition is a selection of retro hairdryers on display. The music played is mixed and relaxing and your are automatically given a drink upon arrival (with biscuit !)
There is free wi fi, selection of magazines and even dvd players to watch a movie if you are getting your hair coloured. There is a beautiful bathroom for customers’ use which is always handy to have after cups of tea.
The standard of hair washing at Boosh can not be credited enough. I always go into a deep relaxation as my hair is conditioned with the bonus addition of an Indian head massage, pure bliss.
The level of conversation is always read right. If you want a blether, then the girls oblige with every day chat, but if you are tired and just want the job done, then peace is given.
The staff are of course immaculately presented with the most recent fashion sense and haircuts, but not in a threatening way. I never feel I have to dress up to come to this salon and have arrived in work uniform, tracksuit bottoms and dressed up heading for a night out right afterwards.
The prices are very reasonable for Edinburgh city for the quality of cut given

Males and children and welcome as well.
All the staff are well trained in more sensitive issues such as hair loss through illness, alopecia etc.
I cannot rate Boosh highly enough. Once you have been there, you will feel like part of their happy family and not go anywhere else again. Boosh has previously been in The List magazine, review HERE.
Highly recommended from Edinburgh Spotlight.
Suitable for disabled ? Yes, all on flat ground and staff extremely aware of dealing with disabled customers
