As revealed in our interview with co-founder Joe Tree, Blipfoto are launching a photography competition in conjunction with Channel 4, the National Theatre of Scotland and Scottish Screen.
Opening tomorrow, Unstaged aims to celebrate and share extraordinary moments and stories from everyday life and will feature three separate competitions throughout the course of the year. The first of these – Unstaged: Scotland at Play – runs until February 2010 and focuses on images which capture the spirit of performance and play in Scotland.
With a top prize of a lifetime membership of Blipfoto, £500 cash, a Canon 500D camera plus one day shooting with the National Theatre of Scotland, the competition is likely to attract huge interest (not least from me…). Runners-up prizes include compact cameras, annual Blipfoto memberships and special prizes for under-18s.
The judging panel will include representatives from each of the participating companies, including Joe himself and former-photographer turned award-winning movie director Paul McGuigan.
Two other competitions will run in 2010, each aiming to highlight creativity, spontaneity and the extraordinary moments which occur in everyday life.
More details on how to enter are available on the Unstaged website.
