Traditional German Christmas Market
Appearing in 2009 for its tenth year, the Traditional German Christmas Market has become a much-loved Edinburgh festive tradition, along with all of the other magical attractions appearing in the city during December.

Decorations for sale at the German Christmas Market
Taking place at the Mound Precinct from 26th Nov to 24th December, the market sells some beautiful and original hand-made gifts and decorations: perfect for adorning the tree back home or as stocking-fillers for the kids and grown ups.
Additionally, a delicious range of sweet and savoury German foods are on offer, as well as everyone’s favourite – Glühwein (hot mulled wine) – which is usually sold in a souvenir mug you can keep for a small extra payment.
The market is in an ideal location for you to enjoy many of the surrounding attractions, such as the ice-skating in Princes Street Gardens and the Highland Market, Big Wheel and funfair next to the Scott Monument.

Tasty treats at the Traditional German Market
Best visited after dark, when the lights around the pretty wooden stalls sparkle in the December night, the Traditional German Christmas Market is a wonderful and atmospheric addition to Edinburgh’s Christmas and one guaranteed to fill you full of the festive spirit (and perhaps some of that Glühwein into the bargain).
